This means you can sit comfortably in your gaming chair

A healthy sitting position in your gaming chair is far more important than you might think. Ergonomists have reached a consensus over the past two decades. No chair in the world can accommodate all body sizes and measurements in a neutral position. Many new users initially have difficulty finding their comfort zone. So what is the healthiest way to sit for long periods of time? In my opinion, properly utilizing a chair's ergonomic features is critical to success. The healthiest option is sitting in dynamic neutral positions for extended periods of time. Learn how to sit properly in a gaming chair to improve your health, well-being and productivity. This blog covers everything you need to know in under five minutes.

Change the seat height

The ideal sitting height is determined based on your body measurements. Adjust the seat height until your upper and lower legs form a 90-degree angle with your knees while sitting with your feet flat on the floor. Your feet should be flat on the floor (not dangling). If the desk is particularly high, add one footrest added.

Keep your feet on the ground

The first step to a healthy, neutral posture is to keep your feet firmly on the ground. This gives your back muscles the strength they need to keep your upper body upright. If your desk is too high for you to sit with your feet flat on the floor, add one footrest added. Placing your feet on a footrest makes it much easier to move your calf muscles and ankles, taking some of the strain off the muscles and joints of your upper body. In addition, ergonomic footrests facilitate mobility while sitting, which is a significant advantage. You can also relax your back by combining the footrest and lumbar support. If you want to take a nap on your gaming chair, one makes it easier footrest falling asleep.

Sit properly on the backrest

When sitting without support, the main problem is that the back becomes flat and the hips tilt forward. Despite switching to a gaming chair, many customers continue to sit this way due to muscle memory. To eliminate this behavior, replace it with another one. Make it a habit to tuck your hips as deep into the seat of the chair as possible every time you sit down. This maintains hip alignment while sitting. In addition, it ensures adequate contact between the spine and the backrest. This is where the posture magic happens.

Apply lumbar support

If the chair's lumbar support is too low, the hips will be pushed forward. If the lumbar support is set too high, the forward bending of the upper body is promoted. The lumbar support should be raised a few centimeters above the seat shell. References: Human Factors and Ergonomics Handbook: The user manual recommends raising the lumbar support 6cm to 10cm above the seat. The lumbar support cushions that come standard with many gaming chairs are usually very firm. Therefore, there may be a gap between the spine and the backrest, which may not be compressed when leaning on it. In cheaper gaming chairs, the associated support cushions are filled with inferior materials. A memory foam lumbar pillow is a simple and effective upgrade. DXRacer's lumbar pillow is the most effective support I've ever tried. Its construction uses memory foam that conforms to the natural curvature of the spine.

Adjust the pillow

The pillow is designed to wrap around the head and neck, providing the most effective natural and posture-optimized support. So if you have posture problems and sit in your gaming chair for long periods of time, a pillow that allows up and down movement can help you maintain an upright position for a longer period of time.

Place the armrests correctly

A few armrests on our gaming chairs can be rotated in four different directions. It is important that you ensure that the armrests are positioned correctly to minimize strain on the shoulders, neck and upper back.

Tilt the backrest

Most people develop the habit of sitting neutrally after just a few days of practice. During acclimatization, maintaining a limited reclining range helps the body adjust to the new chair. It is highly recommended to tilt the back of your chair back to reduce pressure on the lumbar spine. The vast majority of ergonomics studies support research that the ideal typing angle range for a desk is between 100 and 115 degrees. This study recommends a tilt angle of 110 degrees with a lumbar support depth of 4cm to achieve an optimal lumbar curvature of 47 degrees while sitting.
